The Governing Board is responsible for ensuring that children are safe and well cared for, that they have the appropriate environment in which to learn and that they achieve the highest standards possible in line with their ability. Governors support the formulation of the School Development and Improvement Plan and check policies in the school. They ask the Head Teacher challenging questions about achievement, teaching and learning, safeguarding, behaviour and Health and Safety. Governors do not get involved in the day to day running of the school or its management; their role is entirely strategic.
